Mr. Jorge Zelada Becomes IIC Finance Division Chief


WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mr. Jorge Zelada, 52, a citizen of Spain, has been appointed as Finance, Risk Management and Administration Division Chief of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) effective December 16, 1999. He comes to the IIC at a significant juncture as the institution begins deployment of a $500 million capital increase approved by its member countries in 1999.

Before coming to the IIC, Mr. Zelada was an independent consultant specializing in small and medium-size enterprise development, exports, international strategy, international banking, and restructuring. Previously he was head of corporate banking at Banco Exterior Argentaria in Madrid. Earlier, Mr. Zelada held various management positions at Banco Exterior de España in Hong Kong, Madrid, and London. He also served as head of the foreign department of Extecapital (Sociedad de Valores y Bolsa) in Madrid.

Mr. Zelada holds a law degree from the universities of Madrid and Santiago de Compostela.
