Inter-American Investment Corporation Works with the Financial Sector to Protect the Environment


The IIC's General Manager, Dr. Jacques Rogozinski, attends closing session of a workshop on improving environmental management in the financial sector WASHINGTON, D.C. -The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) a member of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, hosted a workshop in Miami, Florida, from May 3 to 5 for financial intermediaries that receive IIC funding. The workshop centered on how financial institutions can integrate environmental management practices in their own operations and map out strategies for turning good environmental practices into competitive advantages.

Representatives from twelve financial institutions from ten Latin American and Caribbean countries attended the workshop. The General Manager of the IIC, Dr. Jacques Rogozinski, attended the closing session and addressed the participants. Dr. Rogozinski stressed that financial institutions have a crucial role to play in disseminating environmental awareness by considering the environmental impacts of projects they are financing.

The workshop received support from the Italian Government through the Italian Trust Fund, as well as assistance from the Multilateral Investment Fund and the International Finance Corporation.
