IIC Will Support The Construction And Operation Of A Bus Terminal In Uruguay


IIC financing will promote the country's transportation sector WASHINGTON, D.C. - On June 15, 2000, the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) approved a $5.0 million loan to Udeman S.A. The project involves the construction and operation of a 20,787 m2 multipurpose bus terminal in the city of Salto in Uruguay.

The IIC´s loan will significantly improve and enhance the efficiency of domestic and international bus transportation for passengers and small cargo traffic.

The terminal will also make a significant contribution to the city's growth and development as a major tourist destination. The new terminal will provide efficient services to local passengers and tourists, as well as greater comfort, sophisticated traffic control and information systems, and enhanced traffic safety. It will incorporate services offered by modern transportation facilities, including a shopping center. It is expected that the project will generate 15 direct and 350 indirect jobs.
