IIC approves loan to Desler do Brasil Comércio e Serviços Ambientais Ltda. in Brazil

Washington, D.C. - On May 6, 2011, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) approved a loan of up to US$800,000 to Desler do Brasil Comércio e Serviços Ambientais Ltda. The loan will be used to purchase equipment and to finance working capital.

This is the IIC’s third operation with Desler and involves financing equipment to support Desler Argentina’s expansion into Brazil, where it will provide services to enhance liquid effluent quality in the industrial sector, specifically, cleaning dehydration units and water treatment.

According to Jorge Ciurlizza, IIC Senior Investment Officer in charge of the operation, "Desler has been successfully providing services in Argentina for almost a decade and this operation will enable its internationalization. The IIC started working with Desler in 1997 and it approved the first operation in late 1998. Over this period, the IIC has witnessed Desler’s contribution to Argentina’s economy and, in particular, how Desler has helped industrial companies meet very strict and globally competitive environmental indicators. With this operation, the IIC is supporting a company that went from being small to becoming a medium-sized company and now aims at diversifying in a region working towards integration. The operation will also create jobs, generate foreign exchange, and enable the transfer of know-how."
