Financing Requested:
Financial Services
Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, and other cities in Honduras
Scope Objective:
Project Description: The project consists of a seven-year loan of up to $4 million. The loan will be used to provide medium and long-term financing to small and medium-size companies; such financing is difficult to obtain in Honduras. The Bank will focus on granting subloans to companies that operate chiefly in the industrial, manufacturing, construction, agribusiness, and other eligible sectors.
Environmental Review:
This is a category III project according to IIC’s environmental review procedure.

Each subproject will be subject to an environmental review and must comply with the environmental, labor, and safety laws, regulations and standards of Honduras as well as the IIC’s environmental and labor policies. In order for the Bank to acquire a thorough, consistent knowledge of IIC requirements, it will receive an environmental orientation visit as required and it will be required by contract to attend the IIC’s environmental training seminar. Both the orientation visit and the seminar will provide a basis for the recognition of environmental, safety, and labor issues as well as their respective IIC policy requirements.
