The project consisted of Long term loan of US$8 million for the construction of an all- inclusive resort hotel dedicated to nature and archeological tourism in the Quintana Roo region of southeastern Mexico. This was among the first concepts in the hotel industry in Mexico devoted to the promotion and development of the Mayan culture in a poor economic area of the Yucatán peninsula. The Mexican government at the federal and local level in Quintana Roo strongly supports tourism development, particularly private sector investments in Mundo Maya such as this project, and acknowledged the positive socioeconomic impact of the project.
