Leasing Bolívar was established on September 7, 1978, with United States Leasing Corporation and some companies of the Bolivar Group as its shareholders (with a 20% and 80% equity participation, respectively). It was one of the first companies to develop and implement leasing operations in Colombia. The project consists of an investment in preferred shares in Leasing Bolívar, a subsidiary of Grupo Bolívar (the “Group”), in order to provide small and medium size Colombian companies with medium and long-term financing via leasing operations, thereby helping meet such companies’ financing requirements. The project consists of a US$6.0 million investment in preferred shares in Leasing Bolívar to finance leasing operations of small and medium-size Colombian enterprises. The project would strengthen the Company’s equity base and would allow a further increase in leverage to fund its leasing operations. The IIC’s funds and the leverage will be used to purchase equipment to be leased by small and medium-size privately-owned companies, in order to increase or modernize their productive capacity.
