MG Fundo Mútuo de Investimento em Empresas Emergentes is a private equity fund to be established in Brazil, that sought to earn long-term capital gains by investing in equity and quasi-equity securities of small and mediumsized companies located in the State of Minas Gerais. As an integral part of the financing, the Fund sought to offer assistance to entrepreneurs in the areas of management, technology, and market development. The Fund sought to invest primarily in existing companies with high-growth potential, using quasi-equity and equity instruments to acquire significant minority positions. IIC purchased up to USS4.0 million of the total capital of MG FEE for an aggregate share not exceeding 10% of the Fund's total committed capital. The investment subscription was in local currency to comply with the regulations on foreign investment in local mutual funds.
