IIC Signs A Memorandum Of Understanding With Unioncamere To Promote Investments By Italian Companies In Latin America And The Caribbean

On November 3, 2004, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Craft and Agriculture (Unioncamere) to promote the exchange of information regarding investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean for Italian companies interested in increasing their presence in the region. Based on this Memorandum of Understanding, Unioncamere and the IIC, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, will hold meetings and seminars to provide information on investing, importing, and exporting in the region.
The signing ceremony took place in Rome. Signing for Unioncamere was Mr. Giuseppe Tripoli, General Secretary. Mr. Jorge Roldán, Chief of the Finance and Risk Management Division, signed for the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), the IDB Group's private-sector operating arm for small and medium-size enterprises.
The agreement seeks to promote the economic and commercial development of the countries in the region by means of a development program coordinated by the IIC and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that will build a business network linking Italian companies and their Latin American counterparts.
The Inter-American Investment Corporation is a multilateral financial institution that is part of the Inter-American Development Bank Group. It provides financing (in the form of equity investments, loans, guarantees, and other instruments) and advisory services to private enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IIC's mission is to promote the economic development of its regional borrowing member countries by stimulating the establishment, expansion, and modernization of private enterprises, particularly those that are small and medium in size.
