IIC Signs A Memorandum Of Understanding With Japan Bank For International Cooperation

Okinawa,Japan- On April 12, 2005, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to provide a general framework that will facilitate cooperation between JBIC and IIC in proposing and implementing financial initiatives at regional, national and sectoral level, and supporting institutional networking and capacity building in the financial domain. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation was established to contribute to the sound development of Japan through Japanese exports and imports and Japanese economic activities overseas and for economic and social development or economic stability in developing areas.

The signing ceremony took place with the presence of Mr. Enrique V. Iglesias, President of the Board of Directors of the IIC and President of the IDB, during the occasion of the forty-sixth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank and the twentieth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Investment Corporation in Okinawa. Signing for the Japan Bank for International Cooperation was Mr. Kyosuke Shinozawa, Governor, and for the Inter-American Investment Corporation was Mr. Jacques Rogozinski, General Manager.

The Inter-American Investment Corporation is a multilateral financial institution that is part of the Inter-American Development Bank Group. It provides financing (in the form of equity investments, loans, guarantees, and other instruments) and advisory services to private enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IIC's mission is to promote the economic development of its regional borrowing member countries by stimulating the establishment, expansion, and modernization of private enterprises, particularly those that are small and medium in size.
