Dutch and Colombian companies set to explore possible joint-venture opportunities

Bogotá, Colombia, November 25, 2014 — The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) has signed an Agreement with the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, launching a business-to-business (B2B) program in Colombia that will connect companies from both countries.

The program aims to foster the development of business relations between Dutch medium-sized companies and Colombian small and medium-sized enterprises. The three-pronged program will promote matchmaking between Dutch and Colombian companies, while also offering financing and advisory services in key areas including know-how and technological capabilities. During the different phases of the project, business meetings will be organized to enable companies to meet in Colombia and in the Netherlands.

Jorge Roldán, chief of the IIC’s Technical Assistance and Strategic Partnerships Division, noted: “Encouraged by the success of the B2B program in Colombia, Peru and the Dominican Republic, the IIC decided to repeat this initiative in Colombia. Colombian companies have strong potential and by linking up with Dutch companies they gain access to the tools they need to take their business to the next level.”

The B2B program will focus on sectors including water treatment; waste management; dairy; agribusiness; health; and oil and gas. The program will promote environmental and social requirements laid out in the IIC Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy and foster best practices in corporate social responsibility.

The Netherlands – LAC B2B Program is supported by the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands through a contribution totaling over US$500,000.
