It was the third workshop of its kind under the FINPYME ExportPlus program, with support from the Korea-IIC SME Development Trust Fund

Bridgetown, Barbados - On August 23 and 24, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, held a FINPYME ExportPlus workshop on export management. The workshop, organized in partnership with the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC), the Barbados Manufacturers’ Association (BMA), and Scotiabank, provided information and training to small and medium-sized enterprises on best practices, techniques, methods, and guidelines on how to better manage projects. Participants also received technical assistance on trade certification.

FINPYME ExportPlus is a program of the IIC that seeks to complement the Inter-American Development Bank’s activities in support of the World Trade Organization’s Aid for Trade initiative. Under the program, technical experts provide direct assistance to help SMEs improve their competitiveness and their ability to export.

According to Antonello Bove, IIC’s FINPYME ExportPlus program leader and lecturer at the workshop, "project management has become the most sought-after skill in the business world. It is a very fast growing professional discipline and one of the most demanded by employers and recruiters alike. SMEs can benefit from employees who have the critical knowledge needed to lead successful projects."
