Key Initiatives

FINPYME
Financing alone is not enough for SMEs in the Latin American and Caribbean region. They also need technical assistance, which is a prerequisite in many cases for securing the financing they are looking for. At present, SMEs face many hurdles that hinder their ability to compete in open markets.

GREENPYME
Are you an entrepreneur who has been wondering how you can reduce your company’s energy costs?
GREENPYME could be the answer. GREENPYME is the IIC’s innovative energy efficiency program designed to provide the expertise, tools, as well as the technological and financial support your company needs to implement energy efficiency measures.

FINPYME Credit Program
FINPYME Credit is the IIC’s small loan product designed to provide competitive financing for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in eligible countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Loan amounts range from US$100,000 to US$600,000.
Local Currency Loans: The New Frontier
Though most of its loan portfolio is U.S. dollar-denominated, the IIC is also able to provide financing in local currency. To date, it has financed operations in Mexican pesos, Brazilian reais, Peruvian soles, Colombian pesos, and Argentine pesos.
The IIC is planning to expand its local-currency lending activities over the next few years to better fulfill its mandate of providing affordable financing for SMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean.
IIC Asset Management
The IIC administers third-party funds as part of several initiatives designed to mobilize resources for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Sustainability Week
Training and technical assistance are essential to ensure that projects offer more than just financial and economic benefits. Accordingly, the IIC held its first annual Sustainability Week in October 2010, a new initiative for training financial institutions and their customers on sustainability-related issues such as environmental risk management, climate change mitigation, and energy efficiency opportunities.
Italian Development Program
The Italian Development Program is an Inter-American Investment Corporation initiative aimed at building a network of Italian, Latin American, and Caribbean enterprises linked by import, export, and foreign direct investment operations.
